Since its inception in 1983 the College of Healing has been a pioneer within the Healing field in the United Kingdom, developing courses to the highest standard of tuition available. The College was the first organisation in Britain to structure a formal training programme for healers, based upon the philosophy that whilst there are as many methods of healing as there are healers, there are fundamental techniques and principals that can be taught, giving the healer an understanding of how energy flows and operates, thereby enabling them to develop further within their healing potential.

Set up as an educational Charity, the College’s commitment is to:

• The development of individual’s awareness of universal healing energies
• Training and developing skills in the use of these universal energies
• Supporting the growth and development of its students on every level
• Educating and informing the public and health care professionals about the nature of healing
• Researching the effectiveness of healing
• Pioneering best practice in healing tuition and healer – client relationships

The College is run by a Core Group of 7, with an average 15 years experience each of the Healing field, and overseen by a group of trustees with a collective experience of over 100 years within the healing field. The College of Healing, as an organisation, has a solid foundation to support the development of its students

In 1997 the College following its pioneering spirit took the decision to restructure its courses in the belief that there was a need for the Healing movement to follow other complimentary therapies and gain accreditation and recognition from an outside awarding body. This decision was not taken lightly, but in the certain knowledge that with the closer integration of the UK into Europe there was a need for this formal recognition to be gained.

The restructuring of the courses has been a two-fold process, with initially the Foundation and later a new Basic Practitioner courses being accredited through the Open College Network. This accreditation has allowed these courses to be taught within Further Education Colleges around the country, thereby opening up the training to a wider sphere of the population.

The next phase of the accreditation process is currently being undertaken with the New Diploma course. The College is looking to achieve University accreditation for the Diploma course to degree level, and hope that this accreditation will be achieved within the next year or so. The College Diploma training offers the highest level of healing tuition currently available anywhere within the UK. Students stay within the same group throughout the 2½ years of their training, facilitating their development to a deeper level. Each course is taught by a group of tutors who remain constant throughout the process and is led by a senior tutor. There is a minimum 6:1 student to tutor ratio, and each of the Diploma tutors have both a minimum 20 years experience as healers, and are all also qualified as therapists in other disciplines. This experience within the tutor group enables the students to stretch themselves and explore their full potential within the safety of the Diploma environment.
